Booksale finds plus a nice book meme from...sorry I forgot. But thank you!

Yesterday I was able to buy a 1940something hardbound edition of "Not now but now" by M.F.K. Fisher for Php20, "The good times are killing me" by Lynda Barry (love!)for Php10! and a lovely red hardbound "Delta of Venus" by Anais Nin for Php20. I also found Cathy's book for my officemate for only Php140 I think, and it seems like a pretty great find.

I have my book gods to thank for my luck, and to make the book karma go round:

I am taking book requests from Manila-based friends, around three, and if I do find it in Booksale, I'd tell you asap. :) Or maybe I have that book and I'm willing to sell it or give it to you! :)

Fantastic book meme:

Which book do you irrationally cringe away from reading, despite seeing only positive reviews?
♥Well, I try to read it too so I know what to diss hahaha (so I can judge it properly! mean I know) :p.

If you could bring three characters to life for a social event (afternoon tea, a night of clubbing, perhaps a world cruise)
♥ For an exclusive party with lots of dancing, Weetzie bat. For tea, maybe Stargirl. For just hanging out and reading and talking, Midori. For a wild wild foodtrip, M.F.K. Fisher. For shopping, Sarah Crewe. For crafting, Anastasia from the Anastasia series by Lois Lowry. Wow, I love this question.

(Borrowing shamelessly from the Thursday Next series by Jasper Fforde): you are told you can’t die until you read the most boring novel on the planet. While this immortality is great for awhile, eventually you realise it’s past time to die. Which book would you expect to get you a nice grave?
♥ Sorry but I really, really can't finish Wuthering Heights. I know it's a fantastic book, but I'm really not fond of the classics.

Come on, we’ve all been there. Which book have you pretended, or at least hinted, that you’ve read, when in fact you’ve been nowhere near it?
♥ Haha a lot, but for some reason I can't remember one now. Will think about this.

You’re interviewing for the post of Official Book Advisor to some VIP (who’s not a big reader). What’s the first book you’d recommend and why? (if you feel like you’d have to know the person, go ahead of personalise the VIP)
♥ I love the Princess Bride. It seems like a classic, it's sort of a fairy tale, and it's funny and exciting.

A good fairy comes and grants you one wish: you will have perfect reading comprehension in the foreign language of your choice. Which language do you go with?
♥ French or Japanese!

A mischievious fairy comes and says that you must choose one book that you will reread once a year for the rest of your life (you can read other books as well). Which book would you pick?
♥ I've always been fond of Dangerous Angels, the words are yummy.

I know that the book blogging community, and its various challenges, have pushed my reading borders. What’s one bookish thing you ‘discovered’ from book blogging (maybe a new genre, or author, or new appreciation for cover art-anything)?
♥ Definitely appreciation for wonderful cover art. Also old musty hardbound books with beautiful typography.

That good fairy is back for one final visit. Now, she’s granting you your dream library! Describe it. Is everything leatherbound? Is it full of first edition hardcovers? Pristine trade paperbacks? Perhaps a few favourite authors have inscribed their works? Go ahead-let your imagination run free.
♥ It's color-coordinated! Haha, totally oc. It has a paperback section segregated by authors I love and looks like a giant rainbow. All my hardbound books are first editions and each book is autographed by the author with a personalized dedication, hee. Oh, and all my children's classics are fully illustrated with color! Swoon. I would have plush leather sofas soft as butter and thick shag carpeting with beautiful soft silk pillows in every color. There would be a very modern sound system and different levels of lighting, from a faint yellow glow to bright white that I can adjust depending on my mood. It would be moroccan-inspired in warm hues and would have audiobooks and e-books as well. Could it also have my favorite films for rewatching? The windows would be floor-length, opening to a lush garden with sunflowers and lavender, and the cats roam everywhere. I could go on and on and on
