When I saw that this book had an interactive pouch filled with clues and visual aids and looked like exact replicas of the things they represented: Soiled tissue paper, Chinese menu with food items and corresponding prices, a page from a planner, Notebook pages with doodles, etc.etc., I squeeed. I love pop-up books, but INTERACTIVE books with thingamajig inserts? Even better. Sadly, though, the story falls short. It had a nice start, when Cathy discovered she had red marks on her arms after kissing her boyfriend, and the readers are left wondering why along with her, but when the oriental magic mess was explained I was left with more questions than answers. Plus the explanations were barely believable, like the writers didn't even try to make it plausible. I was disappointed with the story, but liked the inserts.

What I think: 5 unicorns for the inserts and the effort it took to make each and insert each, but 2 for the story, so around 3 and a half unicorns in average.
